The Reverend Anne Emry is a creative preacher, and a leader of worship who helps invite people to a deeper spirituality. She is known for teaching engaging adult education classes in church and interfaith settings. Ordained to the priesthood in the Cathedral of St. Paul in Boston, in 2011, Mother Anne has served as Assistant Rector of St. John the Evangelist, Hingham, MA for the past four years. She received her Master of Divinity from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, which is in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she lived for 25 years. She earned her BA (economics and art history) from Northwestern University, in Evanston, IL. Prior to her call to the priesthood. she worked in sales and sales management in the stationery and gift industry. She has also owned her own business, staging homes for sale.
Mother Anne is an artist, gardener, cook, trained mezzo-soprano and blogger (read her cooking blog: Dinner Plate. She is newly an enthusiastic kayaker.
Mother Anne is a native New Englander who has lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Chicago, Santa Fe, San Francisco, and Boston's South Shore. She is joined by her husband Steve Emry, a multi-generation Oregonian. Their family includes Fiona, who is overly-friendly even for a Golden Retriever. They are all overjoyed to be coming to St. Paul's, and to calling Salem home.
