Music Guild Concerts

St. Paul's Music Guild is the cornerstone of financial support for Evensong services and concerts at St. Paul's Church. The mission of the guild is to enable the continuation of the great heritage of Anglican Evensong worship along with programs of music outreach to the Salem community. Patronage comes from both inside and outside the Parish.

March 7, 2021 - Evensong Concert
The next concert is on March 7th, at 4:00 p.m. Pianist Marie-Luise Hinrichs will perform a piano transcription of Giovanni Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater", along with transcriptions of compositions by Hildegard von Bingen. Appropriate for the season of Lent, the "Stabat Mater" is a 13th-century Christian hymn to Mary, which portrays her suffering as Jesus Christ's mother during his crucifixion. Hildegard von Bingen was a German Benedictine abbess, writer, composer, philosopher, and Christian mystic during the middle ages. She is one of the best-known composers of sacred monophony, as well as the most-recorded in modern history. Ms. Hinrichs will stream her concert from Cologne Germany on St. Paul's YouTube Channel.
